So listen to this one…

The hose lady has a new name.

She will now be called C***heryl Shivers. (Wanna throw off any internet searches for this lady.)

Why you might ask.

She bought a new cell phone and it shows up under this name when she calls the house. So …..Cheryl it is…

Personally I like her last name. …I could have fun with this. Posted by Picasa

We learned the word restraint today

Seems like all he really wanted to do was chase me with the water. He would pause long enough to cool himself off.

So today I attempted to teach restraint.

When it didn’t work I turned the hose off.

Jack was about 50 here. He was still working. He was a tall handsome guy!!

This is the only picture of him at this age I have scanned so far. Posted by Picasa

I found this one stored in my laptop

Helen (mom) would have been about 45 to 50 in this pic. Those are those blue drapes behind her that matched her blue carpet…(see what I mean)…eeeouuww…She worked at Zody’s at the time this picture was taken and always had her hair done once a week…a little red put in and one of those short hairstyles that were what women wore then. I thought she was a very pretty woman. Posted by Picasa

Laura and I grew up here

When we moved from Kansas City. I was 10 and she was 11. We stayed here through high school. This was where our parents lived when I gave birth to Joel and she had Erin. I stopped by here the day I was coming home from the hospital to show my parents their new grandchild.

We shared a bedroom which was farther down to the left from that window on the left. That was our brother’s room. It was a small house, three bedroom, living room, kitchen, dinette area, two bathrooms, probably about 1100 or 12oo square feet.

Nobody we knew had a living room AND a family room in the 60’s. We moved there over New Years Weekend of 1960.

It has changed through the years of course but when we first moved in, it was a brand new tract in the middle of a cleared out orange grove. Our house was this strange light pink color. It had a white rock roof. My mom was so happy when we were finally in high school that she could afford new carpeting. She bought this blue shag…yes blue…and had blue carpet with some white accents….and glass coffee table. I hope she isn’t reading this because I really didn’t like it. It was pretty but….not my taste.

They later added a nice screened in room in the back of the house and the landscape was very park-like in the back after my father worked back there. I think I got my love of landscaping, etc., from him. I’m not sure my mother ever picked up a hose to water. I’m not even sure if she ever pounded a nail in a wall. I wish she would have lived longer so I knew these things about her.

She did like to read romance novels. That front window is where she would sit on a couch, right near the window and read.

After us three kids of theirs moved out my dad turned one of the bedrooms, the one where the window is on the left, into an office with quite an involved ham radio set up. He would sit in there for hours communicating with people all over the world. If he wasn’t doing that he was watching whatever western he could find on TV. Posted by Picasa

Blue dragonflies

I never knew there were blue ones. I think this was a breeding ground because there were quite a few where we saw these.

It was treacherous out there

Mike took this photo after he spotted a spider web.

And look at that fierce bird I caught sitting on the rock. Posted by Picasa

Looking for bugs today in the stream

Mike and I went out to run a few errands. Then we had a quick snack at Applebees. Afterwards we decided to go to the area where Laura and I grew up and visit the streams we use to go to. Of course I had my camera with me and Mike caught some shots of me turning over rocks looking for bugs.
It ended up to be really hot so after an hour or so we left.

We then drove to the old neighborhood where Laura and I lived while going through elementary through high school. I’ll post pics of that in a bit.
We decided to start finding “nature” type places to hike, on Sundays when he is done with all his yard chores.

A lot was accomplished in the yard this weekend. Everybody pitched in and trees were trimmed, weeds pulled, lawns mowed and its’ looking nice again. Posted by Picasa

Oh how sweet …

They put Ouwie on the front porch for me to play with today. Not to smart. Posted by Picasa

Finally back where I belong

Guess I will spend the day on the front porch and watch everybody do yard work.

There is no place like home. Posted by Picasa
