No really, I’m serious, believe me

I am going to do something else today other than sit at this laptop looking at good eats.

I noticed a phenomenon developing within myself lately. I come across a random blog, begin reading, and realize, yes!!!…..this is like me. I too LOVE cupcakes for instance. Do you know that when you google the word cupcake blog that there are 1,560,000 hits.

I have a really strange affliction. I haven’t quite figured out how to label it but I do know, that it causes me much consternation. In other words, how can one person have SO MANY FRIGGING interests and no motivation to carry through on any of them.

So here is today’s dilemma. I simply want to bake cupcakes because I am beginning to see what a creative undertaking this actually is. I love the blogs where people showcase their cupcakes. Now, I don’t necessarily find muffins that interesting but cupcakes, shazzzaaaaammmm!! However, this would entail actually walking into the kitchen and 1) deciding which recipe to bake; 2) checking to see if I have all the necessary ingredients, and, 3) physically beginning the process of gathering supplies into one space, measuring these ingredients out, mixing, filling the cute little cupcake papers, baking, decorating and photographing not only the process, but the finished product.

This sounds like quite a reach today and one I can’t see myself actually carrying out.

I do see myself making a trip out to a few thrift stores, especially the ones that run those great senior specials on Fridays. I may be able to pick up a cookbook or two at a great discount and if I’m really lucky, they will have a great section on baking.

And oh yeah, you’ll be seeing some great cupcake blogs linked here soon. If nothing else, the photographs on these blogs are to die for!! Talk about eye candy.

Nancy Yi Fan

The blue jays and cardinals of Stone-Run Forest have turned against each other. According to legend, only Swordbird, son of the Great Spirit, has the power to conquer evil and restore peace to the land. But is he real or just a myth? Can Swordbird arrive in time to save the forest . . . or will it be too late?
Twelve-year-old author Nancy Yi Fan has woven a captivating tale about the birds of Stone-Run Forest and the heroism, courage, and resourcefulness in their quest for peace.

I’ve been meaning to post this since I saw this young girl on one of the morning shows. I believe she was 11 or 12 when she wrote this book recently. Because of my love of birds I was drawn to this story.

There are so many amazing kids on the planet right now. Is this becoming more prevalent, these young amazing talents, or has there always been so many creative and talented kids but now due to the internet we have access to their stories.

I’m anxious to see what talents my own grandkids grow into. It won’t matter if its’ simply that they can spit the farthest or climb the highest tree. It will be their own special talent and that’s good enough for me.

Wide open Texas skies

Awhile back I discovered a certain blog listed over at the Crone’s Corner. I remember ever so often to go visit this blog and read the latest updates.

It is always a treat to settle in and read this blogger’s latest musings and an hour can go by when I get lost in her posts while catching up on what she has been up to. Her humor is great and bottom line is …its’ a great blog.

Here is the blog URL and I’m going to link it here to my page so I’ll remember to visit there more often so I don’t have to spend an hour catching up.

Oh and by the way, let me give you a little teaser here ***********

Anyway, you might be wondering what this has to do with restraining orders. Ya’ll know how us Southerners are with the storytelling. All in good time! And it ain’t a story if it doesn’t end with the law being called! ********

So there it is….I know you’re all so busy so I am doing the footwork and going out and finding some great reading material for you. (And this one is thanks to Crusty)…

If you’re too tired and unfocused to get into a novel, or even finish reading a magazine article, try this blog for a quick and enjoyable read every day. And for you cat lovers, she also loves cats.

Graphite drawing

I did this portrait of Willie about a year ago. I was going through some of my old art work trying to get inspired to draw again. So far it hasn’t worked, but I forgot that I was actually satisfied with this one. I took it into photoshop to put the text “outlaw” on the shirt.
