My sister’s been in my guest room

And I even put a swan outside her door.

And I’m on my way to her guest room for awhile.

The weather I here is gorgeous up in Arroyo Grande.. I’m looking forward to a few days away.

I’ll have to post pics of her guest room.

Photographed these today in the village neaby

I think they are Gerbera daisies. They “spoke” to me I guess you could say.

The year is 1987

I’ll make a very long story short. Or I will attempt to.

First off…It was a fluke today that I found this photo that I had misplaced quite awhile ago.

This bakery is in a small midwestern town where I grew up. Every Saturday my sister and I would go buy chocolate long johns. We would walk to town. I think it was called Finklemeyer’s Bakery.

I went back for the first time in 1987 after moving in 1960. I wanted to go back to this bakery. My sister took the photo. When we had it developed later, there is a girl in the background that looks just like me from the side. Even her hair is parted the same way. I assume if we were standing next to each other we would be the same size. I have my own theories of what this is all about, which I will probably not share because it’s a little strange.

But if the twilight zone truly existed….I’m just saying…

A fun process

My sister and I sat outside and painted little quick sketches.

As you can see…this top one is simplistic and a first grader could have done a better job.

But then I took it into photoshop. I added some curlicues, saturated the color and thought surely there is more than can be done here.

So I gave it a chrome effect, and I actually really like the bottom one.

This is a 10 year old thrift store painting

I paid $2.00 about ten years ago. I couldn’t believe this treasure found its’ way into a junky thrift store. It’s about a 16 x 2o size.

This is an original oil but whoever did it, I can’t find the signature.

This is now hanging in the guest room where my sister is staying right now.

I forget it is in there until I walk in and I’m almost always surprised by my attachment to it, when I do see it again.

Would you have paid $2.00 for this?

Darn. I should have saved this for Show And Tell Mondays…

But I already wrote this out and don’t want to waste my effort.

IF YOU HAVE TEN MINUTES AND LIKE VAN GOGH

and want to travel inside his paintings, go over to Crusty’s place and she has linked a YouTube that is really kind of incredible.

http://thecrustycrone.blogspot.com/

I just read a post on Wildlife Gardener’s blog

It really touched me.

I wanted to share the link.

http://ourlittlecornerofparadise.blogspot.com/

It’s the one about the poppies and then a tribute to her brother.

There was a part that I will post later, that brought up the most wonderful visual… I’m wondering if any of you will “catch” it and know what I’m talking about. Let’s see if it touches you too. It would make a beautiful painting.

I chose this photo to post with my link here to her place. It’s a mourning dove… I could just imagine the dove watching the whole scene she described.

Thank you Auntie Rebecca

Britt modeled the bath towel for us.

Rebecca has made all of the kids in the family their own special bath towel. Hunt, the 5-year old still has his.

Britt…you’re looking a little like a bird here. Britt is John’s girlfriend.

You look like you could fly away in this one.

Cute bird!

So I’m driving down the street on my way to visit MacKenzie

I’m not paying attention to anything but the road ahead. My mind is so busy with thoughts of the new baby and the fact that I’m leaving town on Saturday and won’t be able to help.

Should I stay home and be available? Should I go forth with my plans to spend time with my sister up in Arroyo Grande for a few days because after all, her husband is visiting his mother in Missouri and she and I plan on hiking and having dinners out.

But that conscience of mine is saying I should stay home in case the new mommy and daddy need some help. A’s mother will be home to help so I have just about convinced myself all is well and I will indeed go on up the coast.

I am about to change lanes when I notice something shocking to my left.

Cayden!!!

What are you doing. I’ve told you never to drive that motorcycle without a helmut!!

He than changes lanes behind me and pulls up to my right and yells something. I roll my window down so I can hear him.

Gramma!! Gramma!! Look at me. I can do tricks.!!!! I’m cuter than MacKenzie aren’t I??!?!?!

I realized then and there, I have not taught him about “safety first.” I will definitely have to do that soon.

Updated photo from today

Peacefully sleeping when we wanted to visit.
Come on sweetie, you need to wake up.

We want to show you off.

Maybe you could open at least one eye.

And at some point she did, but not for long.

I’m going to sleep early tonight but thanks for all your comments down below.

She’s already taking after both her mom and dad

It’s a toss up to figure out which one she favors most. She has discovered the cell phone and was making a call to Lady Bug, her cousin Holly, when I walked in the room. Luckily I caught it with my camera. What a chatterbox she is going to be.

June Bug is doing great

Other than a little jaundice and a little rash on her face, everything is going very well. The staff in the nursery put a bow in her hair. I can’t believe how long her hair is.
