UNLEASHNG THE 5-YEAR-OLD

(I hope this person doesn’t mind, I took it off the net)

Ever since I posted my silly art below, I am struck by the fact that (and my sister can tell me if I’m wrong because maybe I’m not remembering right), that …I didn’t color much as a child. We were busy playing with paper dolls and I just don’t remember doing much creative drawing when I was little.

So I’m thinking if I were to go backwards and allow the young wild child to just paint (without judging it)…that it might help me produce better stuff later. I never took an art class so this could be a great way to just let it flow and see what is lurking inside me.

So here’s a challenge if anybody wants to join in.

5-old year art.

When we are out today I’m going to buy some finger paints…yeah!!

And I’ll still be doing my own version of 50-something art but I actually think this might help me paint better in the future.

And I really want to take some watercolor classes some day when I have the time.

NEWBORN HOLLY

I thought I would start the day out with an older drawing, colored pencil, of Holly. The colors are off in this but I don’t have the original anymore to take a better photo. This was a photo of her right after birth and she was on her mother’s chest/shoulder area but I drew it to look like she was lying on a blanket.

I wish I had a better copy of it.

This is my granddaughter who just turned 2.

AND POSTING AN OLDER ONE

Posted by Picasa

WELL JUST LET ME EXPLAIN

Okay, kind of tired and unmotivated art-wise that is, today. So I thought would do a stick figure.

Then I thought, come on, it’s only 10:15 tonight, let me paint some fruit on a plate. Well it wasn’t looking like fruit at all.

Then I started swirling more paint around and darn if it didn’t start looking like a crazed chimpanzee.

Yes, your 5-year-old child doesn’t hold a candle to my monkey. Your 6-year-old child or grandchild could probably do much better.

I will personally give myself a rating of a “5-year-old artist” award.

But I posted something….

REWORKED AN OLDER ONE

And I do have something in mind I want to paint if I find the time later.

Heading out this afternoon for a good walk with the baby.

HOT CHOCOLATE

I stopped drinking coffee at night, but I didn’t give up a warm drink.

Is this hot chocolate or Irish coffee….

It’s suppose to be hot chocolate

but I would have enjoyed an Irish Coffee

if I had the right ingredients.

And I really didn’t drink any hot chocolate, only thought about it.

This was another mix of watercolor and acrylics.

RECIPE STRAWBERRY CHIFFON PIE

Since I really don’t bake but love to look at recipes, I went and found one to go with the painting below (see how accommodating I can be)….

This could become a new hobby for me, painting food instead of cooking it and giving the recipe for it.

Anyway, in keeping with the theme…here is a recipe..

1-1/4 cups HONEY MAID Graham Crumbs

1/4 cup butter, melted

2/3 cup boiling water

1 pkg. (85 g) JELL-O Strawberry Jelly Powder

ice cubes

1/2 cup cold water

1-1/2 tsp. grated lime peel

2 Tbsp. lime juice

1-1/2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping

8 strawberries, finely chopped

MIX graham crumbs and butter in 9-inch pie plate. Press crumb mixture firmly onto bottom and up side of plate. Stir boiling water into dry jelly powder in large bowl at least 2 min. until completely dissolved. Add enough ice to cold water to measure 1 cup. Add to jelly; stir until ice is completely melted. Stir in lime peel and juice.
ADD whipped topping; stir with wire whisk until well blended. Stir in strawberries. Refrigerate 1 hour or until mixture is thick and will mound. Spoon into crust.
REFRIGERATE at least 4 hours or overnight. Store any leftover pie in refrigerator.

NOTE: Correction to above sentence …..”Store in my refrigerator”………HAHA.

PEEKING IN THE REFRIGERATOR

And wishing someone had surprised me with a yummy dessert.
Possibly Strawberry Chiffon Pie.
done with
Watercolors and acrylics.

From my imagination sometimes comes sweet stuff…

someday I’ll paint the freaky stuff that lives within my mind, haha.

UNSHARPENED VERSION

OOPS: meant to leave a link:

And fixed his eye. But for now this is done.

P IS FOR PACO

I still have to do my “O” which I will do today.

Paco is a young man whose story I have followed on another board.

Cara gave me permission to use his photo from when he was 5 years old because when I saw it I wanted to draw it.

He was taking karate.

I did this in pencil but wanted a different effect so sharpened it and highlighted certain areas.

I think I got a pretty good likeness, though not exact.

Note; took this image off and put the above one up.

AN OLDER PIECE

I realized I haven’t done any people drawings in awhile. Maybe that will be my next one.

SOME DAYS

This is all I see, clouds and the last of the hanger on leaves falling.

I’m just waiting on the sun…….

TWO VERSIONS

I painted this in color but actually prefer the black and white version.

I’m hoping to try a new technique tonight with some bright colored ink and a black raven. Don’t know if I can pull it off.

We had rain off and on all day and I guess it will continue through Sunday…arrggg..

I used acrylics on this.

BRINGING THE OLD ONE OVER

Slowly but surely will get all my creative stuff on this blog. This was a mix of stuff, paint and corel.

PAINTING AND PLAYING

That is what today is all about. I may put up more, I may save them for later, but I am happy to have some time to create.

This was just a quick loose painting of grapes I did with watercolors and inks and then touched it up in Corel.

I wanted the impression of grapes but not details.

I wanted splashes of color.

NOT EVERY WORK OF ART HANGS ON A WALL

I saw this video and wanted to post it here. It’s a feel good piece.

THIS IS WHAT I WANT TO SEE TOMORROW

Not more clouds!
